Job Overview We are seeking a dedicated Customer Service & Shipping Associate to join our team. This role is vital in ensuring smooth order processing, accurate shipping and receiving, and excellent customer interactions. The Associate is responsible for delivering world-class customer service and managing the daily operations of a busy retail business services office. This role requires exceptional self-management, financial integrity, and the ability to independently execute all core services while maintaining compliance with USPS standards and data privacy.
Compensation & Benefits
Pay Range: $17.31 to $18.00 per hour; 24 to 36 hours per week
Schedule: Part-time, / Temp to Hire

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Mail Handling & Federal Compliance
- Maintain strict chain of custody for Registered, Certified, and Insured mail.
- Ensure accuracy in sorting and handling to maintain privacy standards.
- Enforce USPS Form 1583 identity verification standards for all mailbox renters.
- Verify documentation to ensure all accounts are opened in accordance with federal regulations.
Operations & Workflow Documentation
- Work closely with management during the onboarding phase to learn legacy customer preferences.
- Assist in documenting workflows and software procedures (ShipRite/Clover) to update standard operating procedures.
Shipping & Logistics
- Master the ShipRite Global Connect platform to optimize shipping rates across carriers.
- Receive, sort, and log packages for carriers including FedEx, UPS, USPS, and DHL.
- Consult with customers to determine the best shipping method based on cost, speed, and destination.
- Professionally pack items to ensure protection against damage during transit.
Customer Service & Sales
- Greet customers warmly and identify their specific needs (shipping, printing, notary services, etc.).
- Clearly explain service options, pricing, and deadlines.
- Recommend relevant products and services (e.g., shipping supplies, private mailboxes) to assist customers.
Financial Accountability & Store Management
- Process retail transactions from start to finish using the Point-of-Sale (POS) system.
- Accurately handle cash, credit card, and check transactions.
- Perform opening and closing procedures independently, including securing the premises and reconciling daily receipts.
- Maintain store assets and inventory while working independently.
Business Services & Data Security
- Perform essential office services including photocopying, scanning, and faxing.
- Strictly adhere to company policies regarding the handling of Sensitive Personal Information (PII).
- Ensure secure storage and proper disposal of documents containing private customer data.
Qualifications
- Experience: Minimum of 1 year of experience in a customer-facing retail or service environment. Experience working independently is highly preferred.
- Education: High school diploma or equivalent (GED) required.
- Math Skills: Basic math skills required for inventory counting and cash handling accuracy.
- Technical Skills: Proficiency with standard office equipment and computer-based Point-of-Sale (POS) systems.
Required Skills & Competencies
- Professional Integrity: Ability to handle sensitive customer information with confidentiality and discretion.
- Self-Sufficiency: Proven capacity to work effectively and responsibly without direct supervision.
- Organization: Ability to manage multiple customer requests simultaneously in a fast-paced environment.
Certifications
- Active Notary Public commission is a plus, or the willingness to obtain certification upon hire.

- Lifting: Ability to lift and carry packages and supplies weighing up to 50 lbs.
- Mobility: Ability to stand and walk for extended periods to service customers and process shipments.
- Dexterity: Frequent use of hands for packaging and operating office equipment.
- Movement: Frequent bending, stooping, and kneeling to access supplies and manage inventory.
